Penny Abeywardena is much more than New York City’s Commissioner for International Affairs. This Sri-Lankan born woman is committed to building an innovative platform that promotes equity agenda, share policies and best practices globally. Previously the Director of Girls and Women Integration at the Clinton Global Initiative, she has always been involved with advocating for women empowerment, diversity and finding solutions to achieve a more just and accessible society.
Nominated by the French American Foundation a Young Leader in 2017, the ambassador has a lot to offer not only for the Big Apple, but also for the rest of the world as she is changing the face of the future diplomacy by working with foreign governments, the United Nations, and the U.S. Department of State.
She has led the growth of many women and girls by advising multinational companies, multilateral institutions and NGOs to include philanthropic and business practices regarding the development of gender-related programming.
